Effect of birth type on parenting behavior, infant perception and maternal attachment

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate and compare the effect birth type on parenting behaviors, infant perception maternal attachment.
 Materials Methods: This descriptive comparative conducted with 77 primipara mothers (vaginal birth: 48, cesarean section: 29). data were collected in three follow-ups using Individual Presentation Form, Postpartum Parenting Behavior Scale (PPBS), Neonatal Perception (NPS) Maternal Attachment (MAS). first follow-up performed by observation room/operating room, second carried out face interview obstetrics clinic 24 hours after third as reaching telephone one month birth.
 Results: In study, no statistically meaningful difference found between mean scores PPBS, MAS regarding type. No correlation PPBS both groups, their perception.
 Conclusion: As delivery rates increases, nursing care given women that give section increases. Some may be anxious upset about attachment, parenting, newborn because delivery. Therefore, nurses should support these expressing there is parental behavior, attachment levels according addition standard care.
